Planting Request Form

Baltimore City residents and property owners can use this form to request permission to plant trees on BCRP parkland or in the City's public right-of-way.

TreeBaltimore can provide free trees for approved planting projects if a certified TreeKeeper or ISA certified arborist is involved in the planning and supervision of the planting process. For more info on the TreeKeepers program click here.

If you are providing your own trees, requests for spring planting must be received by February 1 and requests for fall planting must be received by July 1.

If you are requesting trees through TreeBaltimore, requests for spring planting must be received by January 15 and requests for fall planting must be received by June 15.

Planting trees includes a commitment to water and maintain the trees for 2 years. At that time BCRP Forestry will take on any maintenance the tree requires.

Baltimore City's Forestry Division administers tree planting on BCRP parkland and in the public right-of-way according to City Code Article 7§ 53-4.

Property owners can request a tree be planted and maintained adjacent to their property by BCRP contractors. For more info click here.

If your Planting Request is approved, we will notify you individually when your trees are ordered and when they arrive.

Spring trees typically arrive by April 15. Fall trees typically arrive by September 15.

You can request delivery or pick up at the Druid Hill Nursery. Species may be substituted based on availability.

We can also provide stakes, ties, deer protection, and mulch upon request.

Applicants will receive a follow up email with a link where they can map or list requested planting locations.

Approval will be based on a variety of factors including site selection, potential conflict with existing and planned park infrastructure, and community feedback.

Street tree proposals must include addresses for each tree ordered. Approval will be based on potential conflict with existing utilities and infrastructure, and community feedback. Species preferences are optional, but orders without locations will not be fulfilled.

If you are creating new pits for street trees in the right of way, you are also responsible for getting a permit from DOT's right of way office. For more information check out our Resources page.

Approved street and park planting permits will be provided by March 1 and August 1.

If you are not the adjacent property owner and are requesting to plant the tree on their behalf, you must give them the opportunity to opt-out using an online form. See more information at https://www.treebaltimore.org/opt-out

If the adjacent property owner does not have the opportunity to opt-out and the adjacent property owner rejects the planting within 30 days of the tree being installed, you will be responsible for removing the tree.

Use the Maintenance Guidelines in the Agreement to Plant Park/Street Trees to ensure your trees survive.

Trees will need to be adequately watered for the following two growing seasons.

Stakes and ties should be removed following this establishment period.

Mulching and checking deer protection is encouraged.
