Charm City Tree Count | TreeBaltimore

Starting in August 2026, ArborPro, on behalf of the Forestry Division, will be measuring City trees in the right of way and on parkland. Size, health, species, location, and other attributes will be recorded. Also known as a tree inventory, this data allows the Forestry Division to assess the maintenance needs of existing trees and plan for future tree plantings. Last conducted in 2018, we expect over 90,000 street trees and 40,000 park trees will be measured by the time this inventory is completed.

If you have concerns about a specific tree, submit a service request using 311.baltimorecity.gov and select: City Street Tree Maintenance Inspection.

If your Planting Request is approved, we will notify you individually when your trees are ordered and when they arrive.

Spring trees typically arrive by April 15. Fall trees typically arrive by September 15.

You can request delivery or pick up at the Druid Hill Nursery. Species may be substituted based on availability.

We can also provide stakes, ties, deer protection, and mulch upon request.

Applicants will receive a follow up email with a link where they can map or list requested planting locations.

Approval will be based on a variety of factors including site selection, potential conflict with existing and planned park infrastructure, and community feedback.

Street tree proposals must include addresses for each tree ordered. Approval will be based on potential conflict with existing utilities and infrastructure, and community feedback. Species preferences are optional, but orders without locations will not be fulfilled.

Park planting proposals must be evaluated by BCRP division representatives. Approval will be based on species and site selection, potential conflict with existing and planned park infrastructure, and community feedback.

Approved street and park planting permits will be provided by March 1 and August 1.

If you are not the adjacent property owner and are requesting to plant the tree on their behalf, you must give them the opportunity to opt-out using an online form. See more information at https://www.treebaltimore.org/opt-out

If the adjacent property owner does not have the opportunity to opt-out and the adjacent property owner rejects the planting within 30 days of the tree being installed, you will be responsible for removing the tree.
